English Language Copy Editing & Proofreading

In what format should I prepare my manuscript for uploading during the order submission process?
We only accept manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.docx) format to allow use of the Track Changes feature, enabling you to review and accept all changes the copy editor makes to your manuscript.
What qualifications do your copy editors have?
Our copy editors are all native English speakers and meet rigorous selection standards and quality control checks. Our copy editors have copy editing certifications and most possess master’s or doctorate degrees. Our editors have editorial experience across all subject areas and have completed a wide range of studies. Learn more about them on our Team page.
Do I need to include a Publisher, Link to Style/Formatting Guidelines, and Formatting Style in my Service Options when I submit my order?
It is highly advisable to incorporate a publisher and provide a link to the style/formatting guidelines, especially for authors who have a particular journal in mind for manuscript submission. By doing so, you will assist the copy editor in precisely formatting your manuscript according to the specific guidelines of the publisher. In cases where authors have not yet identified a specific publisher, we strongly encourage the selection of a Formatting Style. This will enable the copy editor to appropriately format your manuscript.
Can I choose my copy editor?
Our constant endeavor is to align your manuscript with the copy editor who possesses the most fitting expertise in its subject matter. If you prefer an editor whom you believe would be an ideal match for your manuscript, or if you were exceptionally satisfied with the assistance provided by a specific editor in a prior order, you have the option to request their involvement in editing your upcoming document. You can specify their name in the "Comments/Specific Instructions" field during the order submission process (pending availability).
Can I contact my copy editor directly?
Many of our expert copy editors are members of different editorial boards of various prestigious journals and in order to avoid any conflict of interest, their identity cannot always be shared. If you have questions for your copy editor, please contact our Communications Coordinator, Courtney Mengel, at cmengel@econtentpro.com. She will serve as a liaison between yourself and your copy editor.
What types of documents do you edit?
We edit virtually every type of document, including research papers, journal articles, books (drafts, fiction, non-fiction, and reference books included), book chapters, essays, proposals, dissertations, theses, and cover letters.
Can I see an English Language Copy Editing & Proofreading sample?
Yes, you will find samples of our copy edited and proofread work here.
Do you provide a certificate of completion?
Yes. We provide a complimentary certificate of completion with every order. The certificate of completion affirms that your manuscript has undergone meticulous professional copy editing to ensure accurate usage of the English language, impeccable grammar, proper punctuation, and flawless spelling. This certificate of completion acknowledges the thorough implementation of both professional copy editing and professional proofreading services for your document.
How will my manuscript be returned to me?
When copy editing is finished, you will receive an email notification containing a link to download your final, copy edited manuscript. The document will be a Microsoft Word file with Track Changes enabled, allowing you to review and accept all changes we make to your manuscript. We will provide you with two versions of your finalized manuscript. The first will be with the Track Changes visible, showing you where your copy editor made necessary edits. The second version will be with the Track Changes accepted for a cleaner document. This document is labeled as “Accepted Edits.” In this accepted edit version of your finalized manuscript, the comments will still be available for your further review. Prior to submitting your work, we do recommend you review the edits and comments in their entirety.
What are your English Language Copy Editing & Proofreading rates?
Our prices reflect the quality work being done by our team of experienced, highly professional copyeditors. At eContent Pro, our copyediting rates are competitively priced and based on the word count of your uploaded document. Therefore, you will always pay for only what you need based on the length of your paper. Please refer to our English Language Copy Editing & Proofreading service page details for an exact rate.
My work is similar to other previously published work. Can you check my document for instances of potential plagiarism and/or revise, rewrite, or paraphrase my work?
As a service provider to the publishing industry, we take the issue of plagiarism very seriously. As such, our editors will not insert citations, conduct any plagiarism checks, paraphrase, revise, or rewrite verbatim material that has been previously published. They will, however, correct any improperly styled citations that are not in the appropriate style required by the publisher (e.g. APA, MLA, etc.). It is the responsibility of the author to ensure that all previously published work in their document has been properly cited and that the manuscript has been run through plagiarism software prior to submitting it for copy editing.
What should I do once the editor returns my manuscript to me?
You will receive a notification once your file is complete and ready for your review. You will receive your document with Microsoft Word Track Changes and/or comments from your editor. We strongly advise you to check each edit in your document to ensure that you agree with the changes made by your editor. You can “accept” or “reject” edits using the Microsoft “review” options. Your editor may also add comments with suggestions or areas of clarity. You should consider the comments from your editor and adjust your manuscript as suggested. If you have any questions regarding the edits or comments, please contact our Communications Coordinator, Courtney Mengel, at cmengel@econtentpro.com, and she can provide additional clarity.
Can you help me increase or reduce the length of my document?
Your editor can make recommendations in increasing or decreasing the word count of your manuscript; however, it is your responsibility to ensure that the content of your manuscript maintains its integrity. Please indicate your request in the "Comments/Specific Instructions" field during the order submission process.
Can I contact my editor with questions after my order is complete?
If you have questions while you are reviewing your manuscript, please contact our Communications Coordinator, Courtney Mengel, at cmengel@econtentpro.com. She will contact your editor with your questions and respond back to you.
What happens if I am not satisfied with the edits on my manuscript?
We offer quality service, and all of our editors are subject to quality checks. If you are not satisfied with the edits, please contact our Communications Coordinator, Courtney Mengel, at cmengel@econtentpro.com within 48 hours of order completion and we will reevaluate your manuscript at no additional cost.

Journal Recommendation

Can I submit only a portion of my manuscript for the journal selectors to utilize?
Our expert journal selectors meticulously analyze all components of the manuscript to ensure the closest and most relevant matches possible. To ensure the journal selectors provide the most valuable recommendations, it is essential to submit the complete manuscript. This includes the title, abstract, body text, headings, reference list, as well as visual elements such as tables, charts, and images. These elements are crucial for the selectors to gain a comprehensive understanding of the manuscript's content. A primary reason manuscripts are often rejected by journals is their lack of alignment with the journal's mission and scope. Therefore, our selectors emphasize the importance of considering every aspect of the manuscript, aiming to enhance an author's likelihood of acceptance.
